Andalusia is the most populated area in Spain. It is famous for Flamenco and fiestas and full of passion.
It has been quite challenging to live here when we just arrived, but once you have the language under wraps, you get to know so much more about how warm-hearted and kind the Spanish really are.
When you have made some friends in Andalusia you can almost always expect some gifts like these at your front gate! A lot of the people here have a house in town and a little cortijo, a small farm or piece of land up in the hills. Some use their cortijos just for their own pleasure of escaping the town or the city life and others farm and sell the fruits and vegetables that they produce there. Either way there are always leftovers or to many to eat and they have no problem going out of their way to drop some off.
Living next to the coast, seafood is normally more easily available. I was never really a fish lover but since I have been here it is impossible not to change your diet! Each town has its own little fish market. There are huge varieties of seafood and when you get to know the locals, they will let you know when the fresh fish arrives and even give away family recipes on how to cook the catch of the day.

Normally the fish market is situated at the local market of the town which has its own section of fresh vegetables and meats as well. The area of Andalusia is well known for growing the most amazing fruits and vegetables supplying the rest of Europe.
